Welcome! Brown Moss Equine Clinic is a long established veterinary practice based near Northwich and Frodsham in Cheshire. The practice is exclusively equine and covers most of Cheshire extending to southern Lancashire, southwest Greater Manchester, Merseyside and the Wirral. The practice employs four equine veterinary surgeons.
The practice enjoys an excellent relationship with the University of Liverpool Philip Leverhulme Large Animal Hospital at Leahurst. This referral centre is generally recognised as the country’s top surgical facility and, thanks to its close proximity to the practice, we refer all major surgical cases there.
Services: We offer a broad range of services to the equine patient;

- Routine first opinion consultations which can either be here at the clinic or at your yard
- We also offer second opinion consultations if further advice is needed
- Routine calls ranging from vaccinations
- micro chipping
- passport identification and sedating for routine procedures to lameness work ups
- wound management
- pre-purchase examinations.
Our mobile digital x-ray machine allows us to take images on or off site which can be viewed at the time and can also easily be emailed to farriers, dentists and referral centres if necessary.
With our mobile ultrasound scanner we can assess problems such as tendon injuries both at the clinic or at your yard. A mobile endoscope allows us to perform diagnostic procedures particularly involving the upper respiratory tract both here at the clinic or at your yard. We have a telemetric ECG and cardiac ultrasound machine for us to assess cardiac problems.
In-house laboratory facilities allow us to provide planning advice for parasite control which we base on the results of fecal worm egg counts meaning we can advise on individual and yard health programme. We offer a prescription service for horses on long term treatments. Minor elective surgeries such as castration and wolf tooth extraction can be performed at the clinic.
A monthly dental clinic with the fully qualified equine dentist Craig Griffiths runs on the last Thursday of every month – it is advised to book in early as this is a well attended session! We also provide full feed supplements for your horses.
