Highfield House Racing Stables are situated in the rolling countryside of the Lincolnshire Wolds. The vast surrounding natural landscape lends itself perfectly to the process of training racehorses. Combined with our training method, we achieve a highly effective and most importantly, stress free regime. The results are fit, well conditioned horses that are as relaxed as possible.
The ultimate achievement is a horse which will have longevity both mentally and physically on the racecourse. A prime example would be Royal Shakespeare, arguably the best horse we have trained at Highfield House. 'Shakey' although extremely talented was mentally fragile. Without doubt, in a larger, less 'hands on' yard the outcome would have been totally different. Royal Shakespeare went on to win the Top Novice at Aintree, the Agfa Hurdle at Sandown, the Elite Hurdle at Wincanton to name but a few. He of course went on to win the coveted Order of Merit which took his career earnings to over half a million pounds.
Royal Shakespeare was originally selected and purchased by ourselves for £52,000 at Doncaster Bloodstock Sales. Over the years many owners have remained extremely loyal, Robert & Elaine Houlton have enjoyed much success with many winners under both codes including a Cheltenham Festival winner with In Truth and The City & Suburban handicap with King's Thought at Epsom. Owner breeders Margaret & Tony Hall also enjoyed much success especially with their ultra tough and admirable homebred Springfield Scally.
There are of course too many successful owners to mention individually, however Phil Martin very much deserves a special mention indeed. Having joined us some five years ago, Phil has gradually increased his string and has become our biggest ever patron by far. An extremely loyal man and passionate about his racing, Phil has invested heavily at Highfield. His distinctive green red and white silks have become a regular feature on racetracks around the country, I am pleased to say not without a degree of success. Due to Phil Martin's generous patronage and faith in Highfield, we have the opportunity for great future success...you can be part of that success!
