About:

All at Adlestrop are proud to be in charge of a talented team of National Hunt horses. Our reputation for developing potential talent means we are a yard to be feared by the opposition!

Thinking of having a horse in training? Why not have one in one of the most picturesque facilities in the Cotswolds. Adlestrop Stables combines beautiful and traditional Cotswold life with some of the country’s most modern training facilities. The stables were originally a stud farm run by John and Cynthia Hayden where they stood the successful National Hunt stallion Idiot’s Delight and competed at top level in the world of carriage driving.

Champion three-day-event rider Mark Todd then occupied the yard and used it as a base to win some of the world’s major three-day-event titles. In 2002 Richard went about developing the yard into one of the most up-to-date training complexes in the country.

The Gallop: The six-furlong Eurotrack gallop was completed in July 2002 and is a short distance from the stables. The surface is made of silica sand, rubber, fibre and vaseline and was constructed by Dri-Ex, world leaders in gallop construction. The gallop is situated on an ideal gradual incline and has been described by many as the best in the country.

Schooling Ground: The extensive schooling facilities are situated close by to the stables and comprise of three steeple chase fences including an open ditch, three baby fences, three full size hurdles and a variety of telegraph poles and logs. Fortunately Adlestrop Stables also has a large outdoor arena with a variety of show jumps and baby hurdles to help youngsters gain their confidence.

Stables: The yard has 60 well-ventilated boxes in various designs for added interest. We also have a Claydon horsewalker and a weighing machine.

Paddocks: Adlestrop Stables also has over thirty acres of high quality turn out paddocks in which to summer the horses and have access to over one thousand acres of the Adlestrop Estate to exercise the horses over.
