About:

After a successful career as a jockey, Keiran Burke took charge of Lavenoak Stables in Ash, Somerset on the retirement of previous trainer Pat Rodford. Keiran`s dynamic and enterprising nature now sees him at larger stables at Seaborough, Dorset.

Keirans first job in racing was with Colin Tizzard in Dorset and it was not long before he obtained his jockey licence. He went on to ride 43 winners as a professional and built a strong relationship with Pat Rodford towards the end of his riding career. As Pat moved towards retirement, Keiran became assistant trainer and was instrumental in the successes of Sparky May and Holmwood Legend at the 2011 Cheltenham Festival.

Keiran took over the full time role of trainer in September 2011 and soon became a household name with the rise through the ranks of his brilliant chaser Hunt Ball.

The Stables: Keiran has space for 17 horses in a converted barn with large airy stables for each horse. To ensure horses are kept relaxed and with positive attitudes, they are turned out regularly to the attached paddock and covered barn.

The Gallops: Situated a mile and a half from the yard, horses warm up before reaching the six furlong polytrack gallop. The steady gradient re-creates ideal testing conditions of many racecourses. Returning to the yard, the horses enjoy a cool down in the River Axe.

The Loose School: Within two minutes walk of the stables is the sand-based outdoor loose school. Here, horses are schooled easily over modern hurdles.

The Schooling Grounds: A short distance from the loose school are the grass gallops and schooling grounds. Although shorter than the all-weather gallops, it is still an uphill test with 3 hurdles and 3 fences ideal for schooling young and older horses.
