Priory Farm is proud to offer Rehabilitation, Convalescence Care and Livery packages with excellent care and many benefits.

Amongst our facilities we have an Equine Spa which has amazing results and aids healing, soundness, leg injuries, wounds and lameness. The spa has proven case studies and more and more leading riders are using the spa to maintain soundness or to reduce convalescence time/box rest. It has excelled in the treatment of lameness, leg injuries, wounds, tendons and Laminitis etc...The spa can be used independently or to compliment other therapies.

Hydrotherapy or treatment in water, especially seawater, has been a time-honoured therapy for the treatment of injury and inflammation. Cold hosing and the application of ice packs in the early stages of injury are of significant value to the healing process in most cases. The water temperature is 2 degrees Celsius and has more salt than the sea and also contains Epsom salts to act has a poultice.

The spa can help the following equine injuries:

  • Tendon and Ligament Injuries
  • Soft-tissue damage
  • Fractures
  • Sore shins
  • bruising
  • splints and ringbone
  • Bursitis and synovitis
  • Inflammation of Joints
  • Laminitis
  • Flesh wounds
  • Abscesses

  • Mud fever and skin conditions
  • Concussion

The low treatment temperature induces a massive rush of blood and circulation which otherwise would not be present. This provides analgesic pain management as well as inhibiting enzyme degeneration of tendons post injury.
