Richard Hannon’s experience along with his unrivalled racehorse training facilities at Herridge Racing Stables are a formidable partnership with one simple aim: to help your horse realise its full potential. We achieve this by treating each horse individually and finding the training regime that suits your horse best.
Richard Hannon Senior, champion trainer four times, including the last two years, has almost patented the word ‘consistent’, having clocked up a century of winners in 20 of the last 21 seasons.
At Herridge we have 160 boxes and over at Everleight there is a 100. We have five hot water equine showers at Herridge with a variety of grass and all-weather gallops. We have starting stalls on an all-weather strip… all set in about 250 acres.
Harry Hannon, Richard's father, used to train up at Everleigh, where the historic grass gallops are as good as anywhere in the country, but there are no end of turf strips at both stables, and if they so wished they could work the horses somewhere different every day of the week.
Hannon Junior said: "We are spoilt for choice, and obviously we also have the all-weather gallops, which no trainer could be without these days. "We have a seven-furlong polytrack, and the one-mile McArdle all-weather, which has a surface not dissimilar to polytrack, is relatively new, having replaced the woodchip the season before last. We did not get much change out of £400,000, but it has already paid for itself, with two Group 1 winners having been prepared on that gallop, in Indian Ink and Paco Boy. "Last winter was the worst that even dad can remember, but we missed only one day because of the snow, and we also have the indoor school, which was invaluable during the freeze, and a couple of horse-walkers."
