About:

Jo Foster is an up and coming Yorkshire Race Horse trainer who has trained over 80 winners.

It was 20 years ago an untameable passion for racing led Jo from Show Jumping and Hunting circles into Point to Pointing. Jo trained 70 Point to Point and Hunter Chase winners including the Top Northern point to point horse in 2004 and the leading Yorkshire horse 2002 to 2005 before she decided to take out a license and train professionally.

Jo rode very successfully as an Amateur Jockey, riding over 70 winners including 5 winners under rules; she was Champion Yorkshire Lady Jockey 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2009 and was runner up in National Ladies Championship 2003. Jo also trained and rode Ikdam Melody to run in the Foxhunters Chase at Aintree over the Grand National Fences in 2006.

In 2007 Jo was granted her full Trainers license and Nounou was Jo’s first winner, winning at Cartmel. Since then Jo has trained numerous winners from a small select string including over hurdles and fences. The 2012-2013 National Hunt season was a great year, Jo trained 10 winners and 26 placed horses with an impressive strike rate of 18 %.

The stables where originally a Dairy Farm, 8 years ago the Barns where converted, creating large airy stables. Some of the horses live in large individual Pens, which create a very peaceful, quiet and well ventilated environment. The horses are turned out on a daily basis after exercise.

With 300 acres of grass land to work on, nearby all weather gallops and an indoor school across the road and a schooling ground it has been developed as an ideal base to establish a safe secure environment in which to maximise each individual horses fitness and ability keeping that personal attention.
