As a McTimoney Animal practitioner, I work to realign and balance the animal’s musculoskeletal system to restore health, movement and performance.
Animals, just like humans, can suffer from back pain caused by musculoskeletal conditions and injury. However, animals cannot tell us that they are experiencing pain and a reluctance to perform or a change in behaviour is their only way of communicating to us that something is wrong.
A horse may become reluctant to jump or perform a particular dressage movement. Dogs may uncharacteristically show reluctance to go for a walk or refuse to go up and down steps, an everyday task that has never been an issue before. Particularly in horses, these changes are often misinterpreted for bad behaviour and disobedience therefore it is important as owners that we recognise signs and symptoms at early onset. This is not always easy because animals react to pain in different ways; some animals can be incredibly stoic, while others very dramatic in their expression of pain.
McTimoney manipulation treats musculoskeletal injuries by providing pain relief, it also increases circulation, aids in relaxation and helps eliminate compensations that can develop after injury. Any animal can benefit from a McTimoney treatment; it can be used as a preventative measure as well as a treatment for existing musculoskeletal injuries.
Based in Market Bosworth I work throughout Warwickshire and Leicestershire. I work closely with Veterinarians, Equine Dental Technicians, Farriers, Saddlers and other therapists to ensure we work together to provide the best possible treatment for your animal.
